Traveling to a client to solve a ticket it’s expensive. Service field technician spends precious time and money in their car. Pollution it’s also a down here.

Most likely you already heard of remote connection tools and you may even use some of them, let me share some of my experiences here with personal review.

Teamviewer
By far the best known. It’s reliable, multi platform and pricy if you don’t need all the bells and whistles. It covers all OS platforms including mobile devices IOS and Android.

It has a free version for no commercial use. Free version has limitations on time and it’s not nice to use it for commercial use, right?. Starting at 499€.

Chrome Remote Desktop
It’s a free tool from Google. The point is that both ends need to have Google Chrome installed with the corresponding plugin and up to date. Not very common with the average client.

Windows remote desktop
Comes included within Windows, very fast because it’s native. The down point here is that it needs port forwarding which is not very usual.

Ammyy
Reliable and good price for money. It’s the one that we use as default in our company. It only requires the end user to download an agent and run it, no installation at all, no admin rights required. Exchange a user ID and a confirmation from the other side.

Note: Recently (june 2015) When downloading it with google chrome, It’s banned as malicious software. Hopefully will be fixed soon, download with other browser instead. Premium license without time limitations 67$ one time purchase. A free version for non commercial use is also available limited to 15h.

(Update)

Looks like Ammyy has been used for some “bad guys” to do some kind of scam. Therefor Ammyy it’s been blocked by some browsers to prevent download.

!!! If you receive a phone call claiming to be from ‘Microsoft’ or someone claiming to work on their behalf, telling you that you have a virus on your computer or some errors which they will help you to fix via Ammyy Admin, it is definitely a scam.

Alternatively I suggest a new one that it’s pretty neat and easy.

Anydesk
